CRADLE
They provide practical and emotional support to anyone who has
been affected by the death of a baby during pregnancy, with the loss
occurring at any gestation of pregnancy. Whilst every experience is
unique and there is no right way to feel, sometimes the emotional impact
following loss or the trauma experienced can have a detrimental impact
on the mental health.
The pressure on the NHS and limited access to funded counselling
contributes to one of many reasons that Social prescribing is part of
the NHS Long Term Plan. With emerging evidence suggesting that social
prescribing can improve people's health and wellbeing and reduce
workload for healthcare professionals, this provides an opportunity to
also lift some of the pressures for secondary care services.
With this focus in mind and in direct response, CRADLE designed and
launched the CONNECTED Social Prescribing service in 2021 following a
successful application for funding from the Greater Manchester Health
and Social Care Partnership to pilot the CONNECTED service across
Greater Manchester for 12 months, the service is now extended Nationally
and is over subscribed each week with a waiting list. The charity would
like to run an extra session each week creating an additional 416 spaces
in 2024 and are appealing for donations of funds to make this happen.
