Leading Sustainability
The Construction Leadership Council’s (CLC) latest update to its CO₂nstruct Zero Performance Framework highlights the urgent need for greater industry action, with less than half of the government’s net-zero priorities currently on track. At Steven A. Hunt & Associates, we are fully aligned with these priorities and are embedding sustainable design and carbon-conscious decision-making into every stage of our projects.
Carbon Footprint
In 2023, we launched a new initiative to halve our greenhouse gas emissions before 2030 and achieve net zero before 2050. This forms part of our ESG strategy and demonstrates how we are adapting traditional engineering processes to meet today’s sustainability commitments. We continue to publish our Carbon Management Plan in full and ensure it is applied across all future projects.
Industry Impact
From multi-million-pound developments to smaller projects, we support clients across the public and private sectors in delivering efficient, low-carbon buildings. By aligning our approach with the CO₂nstruct Zero framework and the SME Climate Commitment, we are helping to reduce emissions across the construction industry. Our goal is clear: to lead by example, accelerate progress towards net zero, and create a greener, more resilient future.
Action In Practice
Key initiatives include the development of our Carbon Working Group, which tracks and reports progress annually, and further investment into renewable energy. We are proud to retain our 5-star Green Achiever award, building on the 18.7 tonnes CO₂e saved in 2022, and disclosing progress openly each year. Practical measures such as energy, procurement, and waste audits, monitoring consumption across our sites, and minimising emissions from our fleet vehicles ensure sustainability is embedded across all areas of the business.
