The three new operating theatres are known as ‘H’, ‘K’ and ‘J’. Theatre H has been designed as an ‘ultra clean’ theatre, suitable for orthopaedic procedures and any operations where there is a high infection risk. The remaining two theatres, have been designed as general surgery facilities with Theatre K is fitted out for laparoscopic procedures and Theatre J semi-enabled for the addition of laparoscopic capabilities in the future.
Steven Hunt Associates developed individual ventilation plan for each theatre suite in line with HTM0301 and each theatre has its own ventilation plant which is located in a plant room on the second floor. Each theatre also has its own IPS (isolated power supply) with a common UPS which is designed to provide maximum resilience. PACS panels recessed into the wall enable clinical teams to access x-ray, scan images and patient records direct from the hospital’s server, with zoom capabilities and dimmable blue or white lighting to ensure that images can be viewed clearly in the minutest detail.
