Overview
Bolton NHS Foundation Trust commissioned major upgrades to the Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at Royal Bolton Hospital. The projects modernised and expanded both facilities to meet rising patient demand, creating new majors, minors, waiting and assessment areas, dedicated nurse bases, and improved patient flows. Works were carefully phased within a live hospital setting to maintain operational continuity.

SHA delivered full mechanical and electrical design services, including new rooftop AHUs, MVHR systems, heating, domestic water, drainage, and medical gases. Electrical works covered LV distribution, IPS systems, lighting, small power, fire detection, nurse call, and structured wiring. All installations were fully coordinated, tested, and commissioned, ensuring compliance with NHS HTM standards and the safe delivery of modern, resilient urgent and emergency care facilities.
