This project involves the development of a new Youth Centre providing a wide range of facilities to support sporting, cultural, recreational, and community activities. The ground floor accommodates an entrance lobby, recreation area, kitchen, sports hall, climbing wall, fitness suite, boxing & performing arts studio, music room, arts & crafts spaces, changing facilities, general office accommodation, and welfare facilities. The first floor provides an external MUGA pitch and office accommodation, with the roof level incorporating a central plantroom. The scheme was designed to achieve a BREEAM “Very Good” rating, with energy-efficient M&E systems integrated to ensure long-term sustainability.
M&E Solution
The mechanical scope included incoming gas and water services, LTHW heating, air conditioning (VRF), domestic hot and cold-water services with booster sets and storage tanks, mechanical ventilation, above-ground drainage, kitchen ventilation, automatic controls, and sanitaryware. Systems were designed in compliance with Building Regulations, HTM guidance, and CIBSE standards, with all installations fully commissioned prior to handover. Electrical works comprised mains and sub-mains distribution, LV switchgear, Schneider distribution boards with Modbus metering, small power, LED general and emergency lighting with controls, mechanical plant wiring, fire alarm, disabled refuge and WC alarms, access control, CCTV, intruder alarm, induction loops, PA system, structured wiring, TV aerial systems, lightning protection, and supplies to external MUGA pitch services.
