HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED AT SHA? Since the very beginning
Favourite project and why?
Realm of the Red Ape – How often do you get the opportunity to design an environment for Orangutans. In actual fact when we carried out our research for this project it was found that the Orangutans are actually very tolerant to a varying climate and instead, we had to design for the natural habitat of Sumatra, some of the plants required fairly close control over humidity. On top of that the ‘Elder’ of the group always used to sit in the transfer cage between front and back of house and wait for me to pass before relieving himself in my general direction which was always quite amusing.
What's your favourite thing about working at SHA?
If you weren't a mechanical / electrical engineer, what would you be?
I have always been fascinated by the sea and as a kid I always wanted to be a deep sea diver and I actually investigated what was involved as a career. However, I quickly recognised that I was more likely to have ended up in the North sea scraping barnacles off oil platforms rather than scuba diving in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean, which was the image I had as a dreamy youngster.
