Most exciting part of your job?

When I first started the business the most exciting thing was seeing a thin envelope come through the post as often it would contain a cheque, I developed a knack for plucking out the most important correspondence.   But the real exciting part of the job is that first briefing moment when a client is sharing their vision of what they want and we start to shape ideas to make it work.

If you weren't a mechanical / electrical engineer, what would you be?

I have always been fascinated by the sea and as a kid I always wanted to be a deep sea diver and I actually investigated what was involved as a career. However, I quickly recognised that I was more likely to have ended up in the North sea scraping barnacles off oil platforms rather than scuba diving in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean, which was the image I had as a dreamy youngster.

Who inspires you?

Winston Churchill’s leadership, Jeff Bezos’s vision, Richard Branson’s determination.

What’s the best book you’ve read lately?

Freakonomics – Levitt & Dubner, Has some really interesting examples of how people are incentivised

What 3 items would you take with you on a desert island?

Snorkel, mask & Wok

What are you most excited about for the future of SHA?

Seeing the development of the new Directors into their roles, encouraging them to bring fresh new ideas and seeing a legacy strengthened as we move into the future.
