Booths Supermarkets

Booths Supermarkets operate 25 outlets in the North West and have been established since 1847. They continue to expand their business and maintain a healthy appetite for developing new stores each with their independence and unique design.

Steven A Hunt & Associates have appreciated the opportunity to have been involved with new stores at Longton, Kirkby Lonsdale, Settle, Kendal, Chorley and Lytham.

Whilst the building design for each store differs in appearance the fundamental functional facilities remain the same internally. Popular tea shops and home cooking generate appreciable exhaust which requires heated make up air to avoid draughts in adjacent areas. A heavy hot water demand is experienced late in the day which is essential to maintain the high standards of hygiene.

The main challenge faced with these new developments lies in achieving ambitious deadlines, converting up to the minute design concepts in to working solutions, whilst maintaining the highest quality which their brand demands.

The Kirkby Lonsdale scheme was designed by Farrell and Clark Architects and received the RTPI NW Regional Overall Winner Award 2001 and Best Rural Planning Project Award 2001
